This Alcatraz Island...
so mysterious and romantic and creepy and beautiful all at once.
Finally the time has come for a wonderful afternoon of sightseeing!
We experienced a cool and windy boat ride
on the blue pacific water of the San Francisco Bay!
and there it is... The Rock!
We've just landed!
so much to learn here...
Alcatraz is a fort and a prison and so much more...
more than I can ever explain.
We walked the grounds to see all the historic buildings
and admired all the breathtaking views of the bay.
The original structures are all in different stages of repairs...
some have aged better than others over the years...
but all have a mysterious beauty all their own.
While walking the pathways through the island we stopped for some pics...

This was a bucket list adventure for him and he loved every minute!
