Port Angeles

I'm not sure what we planned to see on this day, 3/21/14. I'm sure it was just another accidental adventure. We seem to have a lot of those these days. I know Steve wanted to see Gig Harbor and Bremerton and drive over the Tacoma Narrows Bridge. So, we had a late lazy start and headed out on 16. I took very few pictures. I spent most of the day just staring out the window. I guess it's all catching up to me. I'm tired.

We crossed into Gig Harbor on the historic Bridge and what a great view. Gig Harbor is a real harbor town with many military ships docked. Great for sightseeing. I would like to spend more time there, but we drove on through and went into Bremerton and had lunch at a Subway with a view of the Harbor. I guess I forgot to take a picture, but it was a lovely seaside port with marinas.

After lunch we hit hwy 101 and traveled north through the Olympic National Forest to Port Angeles.
It's really just a stone's throw to Victoria British Columbia. I didn't have our passports or we could have taken a ferry ride across the bay.

It's an active port with big shipping vessels and ferries!

That's Canada in the distance!

There's something in the water...look closely...

It's a California Sea Lion!

We enjoyed a nice stroll on the dock in the sunshine!

The Puget Sound has the bluest water I've ever seen!

I guess it's time to get back in the jeep and head on down the road...

here's a wonderful bridge...

Driving the through Olympic National Forest...

Lots of Tree Tunnels...

The lights were flashing at this Elk Crossing...
I saw a few elk in the distance but not in the road.

Here's some Indian Totem Poles at the Tribal Center...

and Casinos everywhere...I'll be blogging about that soon.

and look what emerged in the distance as we were almost home...

Majestic Mt. Rainier...
Another lovely view to end our day.
