Homeschool Murder Mystery Dinner Party

We had so much fun with this party!

One of our creative dedicated homeschool moms
(Becky Coleman)

decided to host a Murder Mystery Dinner

at her home for the older kids in our group!

She planned it perfectly to take place on October 30!

Not only is that a great spooky day before Halloween, but it's my birthday too! lol

She transformed her home into the

*DOOM MANOR*

She even sent out official invitations instructing each participant as to their character and costume.

Spencer is General Dijon.

So fun!

The afternoon started with mingling and snacks...

With each suspect revealing more and more about their relationship with the deceased...lol

Then leading into a full bloody spaghetti dinner!

which by the way... Spencer loved! lol

Dessert was complete with bloody cupcakes...

Topped with shards of glass, lol
Courtesy of another rockin' homeschool mom, Jackie Grant!

The guests had to dress and stay in character the whole time!

Everyone was a possible suspect...

Not knowing who the murderer was until the big reveal!!!

Then of course, the Officer had to arrest the suspect! lol

I am so hosting one of these mystery dinners in the future!

And no party is complete without goodie bags!
The hostess even remembered my birthday and showered me...

With a lovely card and a bouquet of flowers!!

They really opened up and bloomed the next day!
I am so blessed!!
Thank you Lord for these good days in Nevada.
What a sweet memory this will be someday.

Nevada Outdoor School

Our homeschool group participates in a monthly lesson through the
Nevada Outdoor School
It's been great because not only do they provide the teachers

but also all the supplies for their lessons, even the science projects!

It really has added to our overall homeschool experience

and provided some much needed classroom time with other students!

We look forward to it and it's been a big blessing to our homeschooling travel life!

When we leave Nevada later this year we will really miss homeschooling with such a great group!
Thanks Nevada Outdoor School!

Hiking Water Canyon

We took advantage of some fabulous scenery out in Water Canyon.

So convenient being just outside of town and all..

We decided to do a little hiking.

Anyone who knows me knows I don't enjoy hiking all that much.

But, it was a gorgeous day so I said "let's go!"

Wow! beautiful and rugged.

We marched up a trail that seemed to head straight up...

lol

We even came to a fork in the road...

Decisions... Decisions...

So we took it!

Fall In Nevada

Fall is a beautiful time of year here in Northern Nevada.
The days are cool and the nights are even cooler.
In October we attended a homeschool group field trip to the
Lazy P Adventure Farm
http://www.lazypfarm.com/
in Winnemucca
What a wonderful day!

We went on a hayride...
and learned about pumpkins!

and how they grow...

visited the petting zoo...

wandered through a real corn maze...

Found the exit...lol

and had an all around great time with our new friends.

So glad we ventured out of our comfort zone and found this great group of homeschoolers!

Looking forward to some more fun activities with them soon.

Homeschooling In Nevada

One of the things we wanted to try and do better this year is homeschooling.
We've been schooling on our own but I knew we needed some social activities.
FOR ALL OF US!!
This has to be one of the biggest challenges of traveling with just one child.
So, in August, I searched online and found a group in our area.
*The Humboldt County Homeschoolers*
I then joined their Facebook group and was quite surprised to see that they were ACTIVE!!
They were planning the fall schedule and invited us to attend their first event,
The Back to School Picnic.
With much hesitation...
We stepped out of our comfort zone and took a giant leap of faith.
And IT WAS THE BEST DECISION EVER!!!!

At the Back to School picnic in August we met some wonderful people right off the bat!!

Yes, it was awkward at first,

but as soon as we began to attend the activities and field trips...

everything fell into place and Fridays became the highlight of our week!
And as Spencer would say...
We finally found our tribe out here in Nevada!!
